While I understand, these myths have been prevalent for generations;

  • They gave hope to our friends and family members.
  • But, we have to understand that more than 100 years back, knowledge was very limited.
  • We need to weigh both risks and benefits equally whenever we try to treat any medical conditions by following old myths.
  • We did not have choices for the last several generations, but now we do have choices.

• यदि आपका कोलेस्ट्रॉल बढ़ा हुआ है, तो यह नाटकीय रूप से हार्ट अटैक का रिस्क बढ़ा देता है।
• यदि आपका ब्लड प्रेशर बढ़ा हुआ है, (कोई लक्षण नहीं) तब आपको अचानक से स्ट्रोक हो सकता है। हमारा आधा शरीर लकवाग्रस्त (शरीर का दायाँ भाग,’लकवाग्रस्त’) यहाँ तक कि मरीज़ की आवाज़ भी जा सकती हैं।
दैनिक जीवन में हमारे पास इन परिस्थितियों से निपटने के लिए सामान्य कदम हैं, क्योंकि हमारे पास सरल वार्षिक टेस्ट्स उपलब्ध हैं। हमें इन सभी टेस्टों के बारे में जानकारी  होनी चाहिए।

    • আমরা যদি প্রতিদিন ব্যায়াম করি, আমরা স্মৃতিশক্তি হ্রাস করতে বিলম্ব করতে পারি।
    • আমরা যদি প্রতিদিন হাঁটুর ব্যায়াম করি তবে আমাদের হাঁটু ৭০-৭৫ বছর পর্যন্ত ভাল থাকবে।
    • যদি আমাদের কোনও লক্ষণ ছাড়াই উচ্চ কোলেস্টেরল থাকে তবে এটি নাটকীয়ভাবে হার্ট অ্যাটাকের ঝুঁকি বাড়িয়ে তুলবে।
    • বেড়ে যাওয়া BP (কোনও লক্ষণ ছাড়াই) হঠাৎ স্ট্রোকের কারণ হবে যেখানে দেহের অর্ধেক অংশ, শরীরের ডান দিকটি পক্ষাঘাতগ্রস্থ (paralyzed) হয়ে পড়ে এবং রোগী তার কথা বলার ক্ষমতা হারায় ।

    • Increased BP (with no symptoms) will lead to sudden stroke where half of the body gets paralyzed (right side of the body gets paralyzed and patient loses speech also).
    In our day to day life we have simple steps to deal with these conditions as we have simple yearly tests available. We must have awareness about all these tests.
    If we get these regular tests done at recommended interval and maintain our numbers within the normal range, then we can add 15-30 years healthy to our life, and extend lifespan up to 85 years.
